Liquid Vitamin B12

The Essence Of Life-Liquid Vitamin B12

Liquid Vitamin B12 refers to a group of cobalt-containing compounds known as cobalamins - cyanocobalamin (an artifact formed as a result of the use of cyanide in the purification procedures) hydroxocobalamin and the two coenzyme forms of B12, methyl-cobalamin (MeB12) and 5-deoxyadenosylcobalamin (adenosylcobalamin - AdoB12). It is the principal form of B12 used for foods and in nutritional supplements. This use is being contested because research indicates that it may not able to correct the deficiency in the brain effectively. It cannot equate with the original vitamin form and use of which can mislead sometimes even to death.

Plants or animals cannot make Liquid Vitamin B12, as the only types of organisms that have the enzymes required for the synthesis are bacteria and archaea. Liquid Vitamin B12 is naturally found in foods that harbor B12 bacteria including meat (especially liver and shellfish), eggs, and milk products. Fortified breakfast cereals are a particularly valuable source of vitamin B12 for vegetarians and vegans.

The Liquid Vitamin B12 enters the digestive tract bound to proteins, known as salivary R-binders. Stomach proteolysis of these proteins requires an acid pH, and also requires proper pancreatic release of proteolytic enzymes. The vitamin B12 then attaches to gastric intrinsic factor, which is generated by the gastric parietal cells.

Liquid Vitamin B12 is important for the normal functioning of the brain and nervous system and for the formation of blood. Recent research indicates that deficiency is far more common than believed especially vegetarians and elderly people are the main victims. This deficiency causes serious damage to the brain including Alzheimer's dementia, and damage to the sensory nerves.

Most physicians are unfortunately unaware of the recent developments in the field, so you have to be vigilant about this issue yourself. Sleep disturbances may occur, because Liquid Vitamin B12 is important for the regulation of the sleep wake cycle by the pineal gland (through melatonin). Treatment with B12 normalizes the melatonin level and thereby the sleep disturbance.

Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) is caused due to the disturbed or malfunctioning of the melatonin which in turn causes irregular sleep wake rhythm. The concentration of melatonin in SAD patients was on average 2.4 times as high as in the control group according to one study.

Neurological signs of Liquid Vitamin B12 deficiency, which can occur without anemia, include sensory disturbances due to damage to peripheral nerves caused by demyelination and irreversible nerve cell death. Symptoms include numbness, tingling of the extremities, and disturbed coordination and, if not treated in time, an ataxic gait, a syndrome known as Subacute combined degeneration of spinal cord.

Liquid Vitamin B12 is likely to be safe when used orally in amounts that do not exceed the recommended dietary allowance (RDA). The RDA for vitamin B12 in pregnant women is 2.6mcg per day and 2.8mcg during lactation periods.
